Harmony Masonic Lodge No.22 A.F.M. News Letter for month of September 2008

Brethren,

We are rapidly approaching the end of yet another great year at Harmony.  We celebrated our 252nd Anniversary with a wonderful dinner and great fellowship.  Once again, Brother Lawrence Laughlin prepared a delicious meal that was enjoyed by everyone.

Our membership Continues to grow – we have two candidates scheduled for the EA Degree on October 23, 2008.  Please make an effort to attend and support them,  We need you support at our monthly meetings as well.

We have been discussing repairs and improvements to our Lodge.  We need you input and ideas.  We need to schedule some workdays, as there are many things we can do ourselves.  If you have a special talent or trade, and can help, please contact Brother Charles Spears or me.

We are planning the annual Ladies’ Luncheon and Awards presentation during the first part of November.  We will advise the date as soon as it is decided – watch your mail for the date.

I look forward to seeing each of you at our next meeting.

Fraternally,

J. Howell Youmans III

Worshipful Master

Brethren,

The Masters & Wardens Club is holding its Outdoor Raising Ceremony on Saturday, the 18th of October, 12:00 noon at the Pritchardville Farm site.  Cleanup preparation is scheduled for the previous Saturday, the 11th of October.  Quite unlike last year’s event, however, where the ladies were gathered in sisterly sociability around the picnic table, gas burners and partially emptied massive cook pots, this year they will be treated to a tour of Rose Hill Plantation, transportation to be provided by carpool.  Please show your support of this unique and colorful event by attending and helping out.

Fraternally,

Howard R. Harris

Brethren,

As we sit in our comfortable seats watching work being conducted at our lodge meetings, we take some transaction for granted until it becomes our turn to perform these duties one day; then we discover how easy out predecessors made it look and how truly challenging it can be!  For example, it is very important to introduce our visiting brethren, visiting past mast, lodge officers, etc., each in his correct order of precedence.  I am speaking of men who have served the Masonic Fraternity, sometimes for fifty years or more, men who deserve our full respect for their service and accomplishments.  To do less would be disrespectful, verging on the embarrassing.

Below I have listed lodge officers in their proper sequence on introduction, according to the Grand Lodge of South Carolina.  This list was provided by our own Right Worshipful Kevin Ennis, District Deputy Grand Master.

Sequence of Introduction                                          Form of Address

            Visiting Brethren                                                           Brother [name]

Past Grand Lodge Subordinate Officers                        Brother [name]

Past District Deputy Grand Masters                              Right Worshipful [name]

Grand Lodge Subordinate Officers                                Brother [name]

District Deputy Grand Masters                                      Right Worshipful [name]

Past Grand Masters                                                      Most Worshipful [name]

            Grand Chaplin                                                              Right Worshipful [name]

            Grand Secretary                                                           Right Worshipful [name]

            Grand Treasurer                                                           Right Worshipful [name]

I trust this clears up any questions on introductions.

Fraternally,

Charles Spears

Junior Warden
