Harmony Masonic Lodge No.22 A.F.M. News Letter for month of November 2007

From the Worshipful Master Master

Brethren:

Regrettably, we have not published our newsleter in several months. RWB Bob Pinkston has been taking care of urgent family health problems and as our editor, has been too preoccupied to do the work. Brother Howard Harris has agreed to take over this responsibility and I am gratified we can not get back to business and publish Lodge information.

Harmony Lodge 22 AFM has been extremely busy during 2007, confering degrees. This has given your officers good experience in performing degree work.

On September 29th, we hosted The Grand Master and his staff for the annual inspirational meeting. There were 63 in attendance with all Lodges in the 4th Masonic District represented, most with their wirves in attendance. A delicious meal of chicken tetrazzini was served. The Grandmaster inspired us with hismessage, "The Golden Thread". This showed us how Freemasonry has, through war and peace, famine and depression, been held together by the infinite "Golden Thread" of moral teaching: friendship, morality and brotherly love.

We have experienced some subtle changes in the Lodge. These changes have, in my opinion, added to the ambiance of the facility. For the 250th Anniversary, we have replaced the draperies with a dark blue drapery that has a subtle tam pattern. The Lodge then bought sixteen 60-inch round light-gray tables, each of which seats ten persons. The round tables allow a more intimate seating conductive to greater fellowship and conversation.

The Lodge has also replaced the old metal folding chairz. We gave these chairs and tables to Sunset Lodge in Estill, so they are still in Masonic use. The new chairs are padded and upholstered in a Teflon-treated fabric that coordinates perfectly with the draperies. Harmony now has a very attrative dining area.

One of our brotheers has donated a leactern/podium and speaker system. This is a wonderful addition and if arrived in time to use for the Grand Master's speech. Everyone could easily hear his talk. This system can be enhanced to have sound-powered microphones for use by lecturers and is a real help for our brothers who are hearing impaired.

The Lodge room where our meetings are held also has new draperies on the windows and at the East. At the altar, we now have a beautiful black and white tile mosaic with a black border. This is a symbolic and handsome feature.

As we wind down the Masonic year, we have scheduled several very important events:

November 3rd …….Ladies’ Night

November 8th …….Regular Communication

November 29th …...Fellow Craft Degree

December 7th .…….Night on the town Fundraiser

December 13th ……Regular Communication & Officer Elections

December 27th ……St. John the Evangelist Celebration

I can report to youthat your Lodgeis stroner financially than ithas been in years, as our funds are not specifically allocated to scholarships or Lodge maintenance.

I think everyone of you will be pleased with the progress of Harmony Lodge 22. We welcome your attendance and on behalf of the officeers, invite you to come and share your views and insight.

Fraternally,

Henery C. Chambers,

Brethren:
November is upon us and theat means 2008 Dues are due. This year the Craft voted to increase our dues to help keep up with rising cost of operation; combined with the increase frolm Grand Lodge, this brings our current dues to $64.00. Please remember that Grand Lodge increases per capta costs to each lodge on a regular basis through 2025. Please help you Lodge by submitting your dues in a timely manner.

The PerpetualLife Membership Program continues to bring inmoney to the Lodge, but we need more of the Craft to participate. We currently have 47 participants. Dure are not going to decrease. Noe is the time to consider a Perpetual Life Membership for yourself. If you are already a 40-year Life Member, you may participate by contributing as littleas $200.00. If you are interested in a Perpetual Life Membership, please contact me and will provide you with the correct information. Remember that you can make three equal payments over 3 years if you so choose.

2007 has been an exiting year for our Lodge with the addition of new tables and chairs as well as the installation of a beautiful mosaic pavement in the meeting room upstairs. We have done much wolrk and continue to see increased interest in our fratermity locally. We have several events in the next two months so come out and get involved with one or more of them. We can alway use help with ourevents.

Persnally, this year I have been honored by being appointed Deistrict Deputy Grand Master for the 4th Masonic District. I am attempting to serve youw ell and look forward to the upcoming year. I am enjoying traveling about the District and visiting with everyone.

Please remember December 13, 2007 is our Regular Communication with Officer Elections.

Fraternally,

Kevin V. Ennis, DDGM
Secretary

Beyond the Third Degree

While there is no obligation on the part of the Master Mason to travel further, he should at east keep from putting himself in the ridiculous position of seeming to assume that he knows all there is to know about Masonry.

It is generally conceeded that the principle of Masonry are contained in the Symbolic Degrees, but it is not claimed that the fullness of their meaning is explained or demonstrated in the BLue Lodge. An apporeciation of this fact, however, is not obtained until one has begun to receive the Degrees of the York or Scottish Rite. It is theat the student of Masonary consciously acknowledges the need for further light.

There is not a real Mason who has traveled to the limit of either Rite whose interest has diminished for the Symbolic Degrees. In fact, his interest has grown stronger, for he added knowledge has illuminated their beauties and brought to him the knowledge of them as the parent of Masonic wisdom.

Happy Birthday, Novemer Brethren

Brethern:

It has been some six months since we sent the last newsletter. Just to bring you up to date, it has been a great pleasure for me to serve as the editor for the newletter over the years. On May 31 of this year my wife Betty had to start on dialysis due to her faidneys failing. She has to go every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for three hours. These are the days when many Lodge meetings are held here and in Charleston for the other Masonic bodies I belong to. It is with regret that I have not been able to attend any meeints since May 31, 2007.

Wor. Brother Chamberrs has asked one of our newly raided Master Masons to take the job as Editor the newsletter and he has agreed. Brother Howard R. Harris has been a M/M for less than a year, but I feel very good about Brother Chamber's selection, and I know theat the Newletter is in good hands. If you will remember in some of my articles over the years, I askedd that you the members send in bits of Masonic new that could be shared with membership I now make that reuest again at this time, and ask you to give Brother Harris all the support that he will need. I am sure that he will welcme any and all information he receives from the membership.

I would like to tank each of our member receiving this newletter, as well as my Brothers thoughout this state, and others fr their payers for Betty and myslef. We are taking it one day at the time; Betty has some god days and a few not so good. I have a little frog setting on my front portch and I received an emaill the other day, about the frog as a Guardian Angel. I had not heard of this before; but think about it: (F) Forever (R) Rely (O) On (G) God. Thank you my Brethren, and may each of you have a FROG in your hole.

Bob Pinkson, PGM
