Harmony Masonic Lodge No.22 A.F.M. News Letter for month of June 2009

From the Wor. Master

Brethren,

Greetings from the East. First things first. All hands on deck! I need a majority of the lodge members present at this months's regular communication on June 11 to receive new information from the Grand Master, which will be brief but important to know.

Seconds, all our prayers go out to those members or their family who are sick. Gode Bless you all.

We have a Fellow Craft Degree on June 4 with two candidates and it will be conducted by Senior Warden Charles Spears. On june 18, we will have a Master Mason Degree for T.J. Garbera.

Motorcycle riders unite! We will have a morning ride to Golden Corral in Bluffton on Saturday, June 27. We will be leaving from Harmony Lodge at 8:00 am. All members are welcome to come, even those who don't have a motorcycle and are interested in going with us.

Thank you all the ladies who showed up for the MOTHERS DAY DINNER. Again, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL LADIES OF THE LODGE.

Fraternally,

David Spears,
Worshipful Master

From the West

Brethren,

Greetings from the West.
May has been a busy month. First, we had our regular communication on the 14th , with some voting taking place. Then Saturday, the 16th, we cleaned the Lodge inside, top to bottom. The Lodge was being prepared to host the Grand Master of South Caroline. Before we go any further, let us say the Brother Lynwood Pollin was asked to be in charge of this cleanup, and his guidance and leadership were felt the whole time. Brother Lynwood asked me to give thanks to all who helped, "From the bottom of my heart." A job well done b all. Thank you to each and every brother who helped.

The 23rd saw many brothers dressed in tuxedos arriving early to the Lodge. It may think the Grand Master would arrive shortly. He did, but not before we were able to set up the Lodge as the Grand Marshal directed, and of course, to have pleasant short talks with the Greand Lodge Officers.

For the cornerstone-laying ceremony at the New City Hall, Brother Paul Griffin provided three tents, plus our Lodge tent, which made four, which he transported to the New City Hall and erected with the help of Brothers Steve Curless, Henery Chambers and myself. Tents were in case of rain during the ceremony. Paul was also kind enough to remove, clean and return the tents to their proper place. Brother Adam Bryson was able to help along with Henry Chambers and myself. Brother Chambers usually sets the example of leadership by being on the planning commttee, then showing up and working.

The Grand Master's visit to our Lodge went very well from my point of view. Te Lodge sparkeled inside and out! (We had it power washed). Our Lodge Officers were in black suits and tuxedos, black tie (but no tails). Brother Laurence Laughlin did Spartan work, preparing the food for all and then did most of the cleaning up, while we were upstars in Lodge.

Brother Laurence is to be congratulated on receiving his sixty-year pin in Masonry! He does the work of six people!

Sunday the 24th was our Mothers Appreciatin Day Luncheon at the Lodge. A fairly nice showing of Brothers and Sisters. The postcards that we sent out for this event had listed an incorrect phone number to call for RSVP, by a single number. Our apologies for any inconveniences this may have caused. This would be a good time to hank oour Newletter Editor in making and mailing our newletter and postcards. Thank you, Brother Howard Harris.

Anytme you to call me, but do have my phone number, it is listed in the phone book under Charles & Sandy Spears and is 843-522-3502.

June also promises to be a full month for outLodge. So please come and enjoy yourself. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you.

Fraternally,

Charlie Spears
Senior Warden

From the Southwest

Brethren,

I have been given the unique honor and resonsibillity of ptting together the time capsule to be secured behind the cornerstone of the new City Hall here in Beaufort. I know that when I look back on this experience, it will seem far less strenuous and worrisome than it has been, especially when mixed with the pleasure and joy it is giving me to be apart of this relatively ageless task.

The time capsule is scheduled to be opened in 2109. Hiow will this happen? Will Beaufortonians of 2109 remeber that is date is inscribed on the capsule and distinter it from its nitch behind the cornerstone? Or will it be left alone to rest until some inevitable force brngs this brand new building down to be replaced by something even more contemporary?p>
Items of some significance have en placed in the time capsule. The Grand Lodge of South Carolina has provided a package consisting of the Grand Master Barry A. Rickman coin, the Proceeding of the 271st Annual Communication, Greenville, April 24-25, 2008, the Lodge System of Masonic Education for South Carolina Lodges, Rev. Ed. 2006, a copy of Masonic Light, Aril/May 2009, Vol 82, No 1, a Ahiman Rezon 200th Anniversary Edition and a 270th year decal.

Other contributions from individuals and the City of Beaufort are included, but are too numerous to list here.

Fraternally,

Howard R. Harris
Junior Deacon & Newletter Editor
